This Privacy Policy explains how the mobile application History Teller (the “App”), developed by Decima (the “Developer”, “we”, “us”), handles information. The App has no user accounts and no sign-in, and we never ask for your name, email or other contact details.
The App can show optional rewarded video ads: if you choose to watch one, it unlocks one level of a paid chapter. Ads are never shown unless you tap to watch one. Ads are served by Google AdMob and the advertising partners it works with. To serve ads, measure them and prevent fraud, Google and its partners may collect:
If you are in the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom or Switzerland, the App asks for your consent before using your device data for personalized ads, using Google’s consent form. If you decline, ads may still be shown on request, but they will not be personalized. How Google uses data from apps that use its services: policies.google.com/technologies/partner-sites.
We use Tenjin to understand how players find the App and whether our advertising campaigns work. Tenjin receives app installs and launches, the source of an install (for example, the ad campaign that led to it), purchases made in the App (product, price, currency and transaction ID, so that the store can verify them) and revenue from ads shown. This may include your advertising identifier, IP address and device information. If you are in the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom or Switzerland and decline consent in the App, no data is sent to Tenjin. Tenjin’s privacy policy: tenjin.com/privacy.
To see which chapters and levels people play and where they get stuck, the App sends us simple gameplay events: app launches, levels started and completed, and levels unlocked by watching an ad. Each event carries a random install ID generated by the App, the platform, app version and language; the country is derived by our server provider (Cloudflare) from the connection. These events contain no name, email, advertising identifier or precise location, are used only by us for aggregate statistics, and are not shared with third parties.
The App saves the following data locally on your device so the game can function. This data is not sent to us:
Deleting the App removes this data.
The App offers optional one-time chapter purchases and auto-renewable subscriptions. All payments and subscriptions are processed by the store you installed the App from — Apple through the App Store, or Google through Google Play. We do not receive or store your payment details. Their handling of that information is governed by their own privacy policies, available at apple.com/legal/privacy and policies.google.com/privacy. To restore previous purchases, the App asks the store to verify your existing entitlements; this is handled entirely by that store.
The App is not directed to children under 13 (under 16 in the European Economic Area), and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them. If you believe a child has provided personal information through the App, contact us and we will help remove it.
We do not sell your personal information for money. Sharing device data with advertising and measurement partners, as described above, may count as “selling” or “sharing” under some U.S. state laws. To opt out, limit ad tracking on your device (see “Your choices”) or contact us.
Depending on where you live (for example, under the GDPR or the CCPA), you may have the right to access, correct or delete personal information, to object to or restrict its processing, and to withdraw consent at any time. Because we do not hold an account for you, the data described above sits with Google and Tenjin; to exercise these rights, contact us and include your device’s advertising identifier if you can — we will pass the request on. You may also contact Google and Tenjin directly, or complain to your local data protection authority.
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Any changes will be posted on this page with an updated “Last updated” date.
